Durham Quest is a free scavenger hunt played with QR codes placed around Durham, North Carolina. The tarot deck, the archive, and everything they imply are fiction.
Nothing is hidden anywhere dangerous, and nothing needs to be moved, opened, or climbed. Every marker is reachable from a public sidewalk or public space. Play in daylight, mind traffic, and don’t trespass — if a bearing seems to point somewhere you shouldn’t go, it doesn’t.
Playing is anonymous. A random id in a browser cookie tracks your progress; no account is required. If you'd like to make an account, we store the name, email, and a hashed version of the password you give us. Nothing is sold or shared.
